Mozart’s Requiem in Motion Second Performance

Mozart died in 1791 while working on his Requiem. The score breaks off in the middle of the Lacrimosa – after just a few bars, his handwriting ends, and his pupil Franz Xaver Süssmayr completed the rest. It is this unfinished quality that makes the work so restless and moving to this day.
This is where Enrique Gasa Valga begins. His choreography takes the work’s fractures seriously rather than smoothing them over: grief, transcendence and the beauty of impermanence become physical images that do not follow the sound, but answer it.
The second performance on Saturday evening begins at 7.30pm, like the world premiere.
