Burg Freundsberg

Just south of Schwaz, this medieval fortress was once home to the Knights of Freundsberg. Later transformed into a hunting lodge by Duke Sigismund, the castle now houses the Schwaz City Museum – spread across five floors brimming with history, culture, and sweeping views.

Tratzberg Castle

A Renaissance gem near Jenbach, Tratzberg Castle boasts over 500 years of history. Once a hunting retreat for Emperor Maximilian, it is now privately owned by the Goëss-Enzenberg family. Guided tours – including special experiences for children – bring the castle’s rich past vividly to life.

Located near Brixlegg, Matzen Castle is a striking example of medieval architecture, featuring an impressive inner courtyard and surrounded by the expansive Matzen Park – one of Tirol’s most treasured natural landmarks. A leisurely walk through the landscaped grounds is the perfect complement to your visit.

Set just outside Innsbruck, Ambras Castle is a masterpiece of Renaissance architecture – once gifted by Archduke Ferdinand II to his beloved wife. Now part of the Kunsthistorisches Museum Vienna, it hosts exhibitions, festivals, and family-friendly programmes, all within the majestic atmosphere of an imperial residence.
