Almabtrieb from the Gramai Alm to Pertisau
This is the most personal of the three dates: from around 11am, guests are welcome to watch the animals being decorated for their journey down into the valley – flowers, mirrors, ribbons, everything done by hand and with visible pride.
Around midday, the procession sets off, accompanied by a traditional late-morning gathering, music and specialities from the alpine pasture. If you want not only to see the Almabtrieb but to understand it, this is the date for you.

This Friday marks the beginning of the finest Almabtrieb weekend of the year: Gramai Alm on Friday, the large Kirchtag festival in Reith on Saturday, and the Hoamfohrafest in Maurach on Sunday – with the quiet return to the castle, an autumn menu and time to breathe between each event.
